“We can do no great things, only small things with great love.”
~St. Teresa of Calcutta
Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA) are an active group of women joined by faith, fellowship, charity, and service.
We invite you to come see what we are about. We meet the second Monday of each month, September through May, at 6:00 pm in the parish hall. We start with a meal and fellowship and the meeting usually starts about 6:30 pm. We try to keep it brief as we know everyone is very busy.
Our primary fundraiser is the annual turkey dinner, done in conjunction with the Knights of Columbus, always the first Sunday in February. We have been doing this dinner for over 25 years and it continues to grow! We also have a silent auction and dessert sales at the annual Knights of Columbus Gun Raffle in March.
We are always proud to help with organizations and projects within the community and beyond. Just a few highlights from what we have done over the past couple of years are: Habitat for Humanity, Columbus Food Pantry, several Eagle Scout projects, Bethlehem Maternity Home in Victoria, St. Anthony Catholic School teachers, CISD teachers that are CDA members, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Kids of South Central Texas, Cardinal Kids, Boys & Girls Club of Champion Valley, Families in Need, Youth Group, St. Roch Church picnic raffle and auction, and much more.
We purchase First Communion gifts, Confirmation gifts, and High School Graduation gifts for members of St. Roch Parish. We also present new mothers that are CDA members with a baby cross and newlywed members with a Bible. We sponsor a blood drive once a quarter, host monthly Nursing Home Bingo, and Young at Heart Domino games. These projects are all some we hold near and dear.
We invite all Catholic women 18 years and older to come join Catholic Daughters. You will be happy you did.
If we could only remember that God loves me, and I have an opportunity to love others as he loves me, not in big things, but in small things with great love...
-Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech, 1979
